The Jazz Cabaret @ the '05 NEFF (featuring David Williams) and the '06 NEFF (featuring Jamie Baum) lit a small fire... We're intereste in forming a GBFA Jazz Club!
Let's jazz it up! Our plan is to meet once a month, rotating through a repeating cycle of venues. There'll be bass, piano & drums… plus y'all bring your flutes! And Real Books, cheat sheets, charts… We can listen, chat,
discuss, network, play, share business ideas (yeah... playing, if it's not a hobby, it's a business!). Let's try piccolo jazz! Bring alto flutes, bass flutes, maybe even a "baby" contrabass would show up! Try your hand at arranging a jazz piece for two flutes, three flutes, flute ensemble! Then see how it actually sounds! We'll have a blast! Let's take the lid off lethargy! Get popping!
Email GBFA Member Services describing your background, interest, and ideas!
GBFA has put out a Call for Writers & Reviewers!
If you enjoy going to flute concerts and you're the analytical type -- why not get involved with The Gazette and send us in some reviews for possible publication? We'll consider all submissions carefully. Just now we are especially interested in concerts of any and all size in Vermont, Maine, and Western New York -- but even if you live on Osh Gosh (b'gosh) -- write it up and send it in. Ditto for writers with ideas for interesting articles! Get to know our columns, then make suggestions. We love being surprised. As you've probably gathered by now, we're not big fans of same-ol' same-ol' (send those articles and ideas elsewhere).
Email The Gazette editor describing your idea for a review or article!
GBFA has put out a Call for KVCs!
So what's a KVC? ...No, nuthin' to do with chicken or Kentucky or being fried (well, sometimes) -- we're looking for responsible Key Volunteer Coordinators to assist the GBFA board with managing events. KVCs are responsible for putting together and managing a "small band of loyal subjects" (volunteers) so when members show up for an event they're not found lost wandering around in a janitor's closet instead of in the room where the event is actually taking place! You need to have a cool head, a kind heart, a big smile, and know how to get things done -- while keeping having a fun time as top priority!
Email GBFA Member Services describing your background, interest, and availability!
